Indian married to Moroccan

Post new topic

Hi, I'm looking for any Indian, living in India who got married to a Moroccan. I checked online and the formalities and paperwork to marry inside Morocco is insane so I'm exploring the option to get married in India as it's very easy here and then register it in Morocco.

You need to make a capacity of marriage certificate or bachelorhood certificate, PCC or police clearance certificate furthermore after reaching Morocco you need to go to the Indian embassy in Rabat and ask for a birth cum nationality certificate in French which is easily available then you need to take criminal background check from the ministry of justice in Rabat submit everything along with your job or income proof and other documents like aadhar that's all

Exactly the reason why I don't want to get into these tangles. Is there a way I can ask the girl to come to India and we get married here as per the Special Marriage Act and then she fly to Morocco and get it registered there.

Imagine someone asking the same for your sister are you or your family going to accept it? A man should talk with responsibility

Oh bhai why you getting so emotional. I'm talking about practicality here. I'm taking responsibility that's why want to get married and that's why want a better way and not get tangled in these formalities where one of us end dropping the plan. I'm ready to call her and Mom and brother here and she is ready with this plan but just thought il check with members here. Faltu ka gyaan mat do. Shakal achi nai baat toh achi likha karo.

Salam alaikum. I'm an Indian citizen married to Moroccan and living in UK.

You can follow this guide to register foreign marriages in Morocco, this is Morocco's official website:

As per the guide you should get conversion to Islam certificate, you have to do this in Morocco. I am not sure if they will allow Indian one to be accepted. Sounds odd but this is a rule in Morocco and the registration might not take place even if you have "Muslim" name, according to them its not enough to have a Muslim name.

Morocco also requires 2 witness to be present for legal marriage, otherwise it becomes complex legally (this is not necessary in special marriage act). This is mentioned in the website too, have a read.

Now if we talk about the girl visiting you for marriage, I agree with the other guy who replied to you. You have to consider that her father and brother might not agree with this. Moroccans are very religious compared to us.

Hi Ben, Thank you for your message. The process seems very complicated to get married and that is why I thought of the possibility to call her and her Mom to India and get married here and then go to Morocco to register because as per Special Marriage Act it is very simple in India. We both just need our passport copies. But I want to try till the end to get married in Morocco and arranging all the documents and have decided to fly to Morocco in January and give it a try. I'm born muslim, do you think I still need a conversion certificate? I also emailed Indian Embassy in Rabat and they gave me 3 documents list. Bachelor Certificate, Police Clearance and Birth Certificate. I will still carry my work info as well. Do you think I need any other document? How do I take appointment or can I just apply in person once I'm inside Morocco?

Yes unfortunately some Adouls(marriage court) and some judges in family court(this is where you submit documents) might not accept that you are Muslim without proof, even if your name is Muslim, in my case I am a convert and I had conversion certificate from UK and they did not accept it. You'll have to make certificate of conversion in Morocco with the adoul you are getting married in. Adoul will do this for you for free in a day. I can message you the Adoul I used(Casablanca only).

Those 3 documents are not sufficient, you will need more but thankfully most can be done online. If you want to go to marry in January, get all docs now as they should not be older than 3 months when applying for marriage in Morocco. Typically if you follow my process and do translations before hand etc, it should not take you more than a week or two to get the nikkah done. Also Indians can get e-visa for 30 days to Morocco, so don't go applying visas in embassy.

Here is the list and process I followed: /forum/viewtopic.php?id=1043053

You can definitely get married in India, but Moroccan marriage certificate mentions mahr, witness names etc, Indian one won't so I don't know how you will register it in Morocco, it should be possible but I am unaware of the process except from the website I sent you.

Thank you Ben. Yes Indians get online visa. I already visited her in Casablanca in the month of May and only after meeting her I decided I can go ahead because I don't believe in online world. And I also met a person in Mumbai who got married to a Moroccon national. He gave me this idea that call her to India and get married and then take that certificate to Morocco and get it registered. Because his wife did that and Morocco accepts the registration in India as per some UN rules. So the main headache is getting her to India with marriage because things are very easy here. Anyways I will follow what your procedure as per the link you gave me. It is very sad I have to prove my religion inspite following it all my life. Also if I will try and take all the documents in January and will do my best. Rest is in Allah's hand. Also do give me that person details you mentioned who gave you the conversion certificate for free in Casablanca. And thank you so much Ben for the assistance. I might ask you more questions if I feel like. Hope you won't mind. Have a blessed day
