Single Permit + Professional Card for Freelance

Post new topic

Aycan Gunal

Hi All,

I have a single permit and I want to do a part time job on Saturdays. That is why, I want to apply for a professional card next to my single permit. My company allows me to work at a second job on Saturdays.

Is that possible to have both single permit and also a professional card in Belgium?

Thanks in advance!

Merhaba Aycan,

As far as i know you can not execute another job while you are linked to a  limited single permit.

However there is a change after May 2024.

This change allows you to work in a flexi job.

With your current employer if you work %80 until the third quarter then you are eligible to work flexi.

However flexi job may not available for every sector. This you can search online.

Hello,

It depends on what type of independent you want to apply for (there are 3 types). If you apply as a "complementary independent" you'll get a professional card that can't be used to renew residency, but allows you to work part-time as a complementary independent. My colleague did this. You'll be taxed on your original income + your extra income, so a lot of your new extra income will be going to taxes.

Tax optimization can be done better if you do "full independent" or create a company and be "active associate", but you can't do this type of professional card while also working for an employer because being a full independent or having your own company means you're working full-time on your business, and your single permit residency makes no sense. as you're no longer investing time into working for your employer.
