50 Million Dollars for Condoms in Gaza Pulled Back

Post new topic

Where the rubber meets the road

News18: "The Donald Trump administration froze all foreign aid including millions of dollars-worth of US funding for “condoms in Gaza" following an executive order as per which all grants, loans and federal assistance programs pending are being halted until a review is conducted. The freezing of aid includes Ukraine as well, with exceptions only for Israel and Egypt.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) found “that there was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza".

Trump's lot said it so it might well be a lie.

However, I had to laugh when I read about the rest of the funding stop. Trump, in his uneducated moronic style, has just cut funding for a bunch of CIA programs around the world that assist the US to forward US interests.

The people who successfully overthrew the Ukrainian government, and tried unsuccessfully to install a puppet in Indonesia last year, have been defunded.

As Homeland Security Ranking Member for Counterterrorism, I just received this list of grants the Trump Administration is blocking from funding. This is a gift to terrorists and our adversaries across the world. Trump needs to stop this madness and resume funding now.

He fails to mention USAID and other similar programs bribe foreign politicians and run political interference in a number of countries in order to push US interests.

Trump just defunded the lot.

First day on the job and Leavitt is already lying to impress the boss. - @jozica

Can you explain that?

The reason I ask is because the report says she merely relayed the information from the DOGE.  In any case, the boss would be impressed (or not) about DOGE, not the messenger of the information, right? This is important because calling someone a liar is a serious accusation and I hate to see fellow Americans making all sorts of wild accusations against his/our government, again in term 2, in an international forum.

At the level of President he has no choice but to give an honest assessment of capabilities, sending the message that he will fix the deficiencies. But he did not make character judgements such as the US government being "liars" which crosses a line.

Enzyte Bob

Condoms should have been passed out 20 or 30 years ago, the generations of people chanting death to America would not exist.

Ah, so it's fine to tell the world your armed forces are losers.

Odd as it is, I agree with Trump on this issue. The US armed forces are a set of loooooooooser suckers.

Just read about the fact that 37,400 Chinese entered the US southern boarder illegally  last year, 50 times as many as 2021.  The people come by way of Ecuador, the closest country to allow Chinese to enter without a visa.  Many are fleeing religious prosecution, as churches are not allowed to run a school.  Others dream the American Dream.  Of course it is a terrible journey, cutting through the jungles without roads from Colombia to Panama.  Will be interesting to see the 2025 numbers.  Guessing it will be lower.

Wonder how many American expats  live in China.

There would have been far fewer upset with the US had you not sponsored states that actively mass murdered Arabs, removed democratic governments in favour of puppet mass murdering dictators, and avoiding invading countries over WMD that didn't exist.

People tend to be a lot more friendly when you don't kill their families.

**

I suppose killing indiscriminately by flying an airplane into a building killing 3,000 innocent people from over 90 countries.

How do those families feel?

Fred

Ah, like the 500,00 dead civilians in Iraq the US invasion was directly responsible for.

I'm sure I could get estimates from all the other countries that were victims of US attacks.

It can't be more than 10 to 30 million dead when you count murders committed by US sponsored dictatorships like the Shah of Iran.

Enzyte Bob

Fred you are changing the subject as you usually do.

The people in the World Trade Center were not enemy combats or collateral damage of enemy combatants . They were innocent people from all over the world. Some of the victims were from the middle east, they might have even been synthetic to the Iranians or Iraqi, did they deserve to die too?

9/11 was in 2001. The Iraqi war was in 2003. So the Iraqi war motivate the happenings of the World Trade center in 2001? You're out of touch.

I expect a rebuttal from you to be completely irrelevant, like many of your posts.

Ah, so the year you mass murder is important to how guilty you are.

OK - Let's move on to hiw many civilians the US (and US supported mass murdering dictators) killed in Korea, and Vietnam. Both were before 11/9.

Now how about how many people died in operation menu, the biggest act of mass terrorism in history.

How many civilians did the US murder in Indonesia and, if you agree that terrorists should be executed, do you believe Pope should have been shot?

Fred

How many innocent civilians did the Shah of Iran kill when the US removes the legitimate democracy in favour of their pet, mass murdering dictator?

I'm not saying civilians who died in 11/9 deserved it, but the US has to accept casualties because they create their enemies.

Fred

Luckily, the US only lost suckers in these wars as none of the countries you attacked had the ability to hit the US.

So the good news is the fed did not cut interest rates while Europe and others are cutting rates.  This makes the dollar stronger and makes imports cheaper.  Expect the pesos to  dollars to continue that rise in exchange rate.  This will make imports in the USA cheaper but will increase the price and of US exports.

Turns out about 21,000 US expats live in China, about 37,000 Americans live in the Philippines.  Almost 800,000 live in Mexico while about 270,000 live in Canada.  Less than 13,000 live in Indonesia while a few more than 13,000  live in Hong Kong.

As usual you bring up another interesting topic.

Even their mother country China agrees that illegal is wrong. They certainly have harsh treatment for illegals in their own country:

"“China will receive people who are confirmed as Chinese nationals from the mainland after verification,†Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Jan 27 at a regular press briefing, when asked if Beijing would take back citizens living without documentation in the US.

“The Chinese government firmly opposes any form of illegal migration.â€

Many are fleeing religious prosecution, as churches are not allowed to run a school.

No problem. If they can prove it, they can obtain asylum for:

"The persecution must have been based on at least one of five grounds, either your:

race

religion

nationality

political opinion, or

membership in a particular social group."

Others dream the American Dream.

Sorry, economic factors won't get you in legally. Why should it? Should US taxpayers struggling to put food on the table to feed their own children fund the American Dream of people from other countries? Being "liberal" here is actually a moral hazard against the American lower and middle classes.

Of course it is a terrible journey, cutting through the jungles without roads from Colombia to Panama.

Noted. Best to arrive at a border by conventional means with a legal asylum claim. To come in illegally and simply assume a lifestyle that strangers are funding for you, complete with free medical, shelter, food stamps and schooling  apparently is not always an easy task.

Will be interesting to see the 2025 numbers.  Guessing it will be lower.

China already agrees to accept their illegals as we would ours' from China.  With enhanced enforcement the numbers may be much less.

Current enforcement  targets those with criminal records along with those who happen to be associating with the criminals at time of enforcement. As with the 350,000 Filipino illegals currently in the USA,  it is possible that eventually CBP will catch up with them. Their best bet is to self-deport.

Making people go home is not cruel and unusual treatment. They are not being sent to some prison. If they were economic refugees their fate is to return home where they were born, in whose country they are legally citizens.

Still, people try to.make us feel guilty and call us immoral for not funding their dreams and sending them home. As if we have everything for free and we must share.

Is it immoral to have less money? (NO)

Wonder how many American expats  live in China.

This information can be googled but it is not a simple answer. For example  are you including Hong Kong?  I cannot find information specific to Americans but 700,000 plus foreign residence permits were issued in 2024.

For illegals in China:

"Some foreigners involved in illegal entry, illegal residence, and illegal employment were lawfully dealt with. They were punished according to legal provisions, including warnings, fines, administrative detention, and ordered departure within time limit. Among them, 26,000 individuals were deported.

Trump may be on track to challenge these numbers in less than a month. And the American people support it.

I am all for legal immigration in all countries.  My biggest concern is how many farm workers will be gone and how it will affect inflation.  But we must accept the results of doing the right thing.  I remember when I checked out the processing time for my wife's brothers and sisters to come to the USA the wait was over 20 years back in 1997.  So we knew we were coming back to the Philippines starting in 2017, did not invest any time or money trying to get them into the US.  Instead she started matchmaking for her nieces.  One made it to the US, another made it to Cyprus.  They are both now widows at age 50,

Not only farm workers but illegals working in food processing (Chicken, Beef, Pork) plants. The whole food chain could be backed up. So the upmarket (fast foods, super markets, restaurants) will be affected in regard to supply.

Agree. When "progressives" make the argument that illegals keep prices low, that is highly reminiscent of the arguments supporting the continuation of slavery in the 1850"s. There is no denying, it is exactly the same argument:

Fighting to continue the use of a desperate underclass to cheaply pick our fruits and vegetables, do household chores, be nannies and cut our grass for $35.

Now that conservatives have been pointing out the consistent pro-slavery policies of Democrat progressives over the centuries,  we have stopped hearing those arguments about who will do the cheap work for us white people, anymore.

Enzyte Bob

One small solution is the H-2A Visa which has allowed between 200,000 and 300,000 temporary farm workers, mostly from Mexico.

Fred

on average, the hourly wages of undocumented workers are 42 percent lower than the wages of U.S.-born workers and legal immigrants

If you follow communist ideas, the low wages are abhorrent.

If you follow capitalism, low wages are a bonus for business.

If you are a consumer, low wages mean cheaper products.

Kicking illegals out will increase inflation.

FWW, already decided. I think it is abundantly clear that the majority of Americans are opposed to the big corporations and their democrat liberal acolytes; modern day illegal immigrant slavery is abhorrent for many reasons including the immorality. The election results proved that to be true.
