Best way to get a long term visa

My girlfriend and I want to go to Vietnam for a year. We have consistent income every month so we wouldn’t need jobs. What would the best way to get a long term visa? Border runs seem too inconvenient and there’s always a chance we could be denied re-entry. Can we get student visas just to study the Vietnamese language?

Hello Tdeane2521, and welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum.

If your intent is to visit Vietnam for a year without the obligation of doing border runs, there is the option of a 1 year business visa. This will require the investment of 600,000,000VND.

A student visa can be had upon your application to a recognized VN university being accepted. Upon acceptance of your application, the school itself will apply on your behalf for the student visa. This visa will expire at the end of the course's study period.

If indeed your intent is to spend only 1 year here, this would require you to make only 3 border runs. There have been no reports from members of their being denied reentry.

Hope this helps. Once again, welcome to the forum.
