Has anyone who purchased a home in Belize had a home inspection? Also is homeowners insurance typically bought.聽 We just signed a contract and law firm is asking if we want a home inspection.聽 Is it like the inspections in the US. Any experiences?

We attempted to have the home we were purchasing inspected, but we might just not have known where to find the right person to do that. The inspection we ended up having, and paid for, was essentially worthless, and nothing like what I would have expected to have performed in the U.S. We do have homeowner's insurance, but I'd guess that it's quite rare among the native population. I'm uncertain how often expats might take out a policy.
