Baking essentials/ingredients in Ho Chi Minh

Post new topic

sheenamaddy

Hi all,

I'm Sharmi from Malaysia and I'm new here :D. Followed my husband here coz he is posted here for a few years. Have been here for more than a month but I just can't seem to find any baking essentials in any supermarkets or grocery stores. Anyone has any idea on where I can find them? So far I only saw baking powder and some variety of flour in Lotte Mart.

Hoping to get some replies :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sheenamaddy,

You may check the shops along Ham Nghi Street D1, that's near Bitexco, the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City. You might find some ingredients that you need in those three shops selling imported products.

Hey there
I think you should check some shops at Ham Nghi street like annawang suggest. Or you can go to An Nam Gourmet Market at 16 Hai Ba Trung street.

About some equipment, you can check at this shop. They have all type of mould for cake.

Cheers!

Thanks felicitas. I have been to Annam Gourmet and didn't quite find any baking products besides over priced groceries.

Shall check the shop on the cake moulds tho! :) Thanks a bunch!

Hello,

I just posted a slightly related post about baking. As you are a home baker I wanted to ask where you were able to get your oven? Was it part of the home you rented, or did you have to buy it or bring one from home? Apologies for all these questions and the inconvenience.

I am surprised actually for a country that has really great bread products I can't seem to find commercial baking supply stores (or maybe I just focus too much on groceries...)

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hello there!

Welcome to HCMC! Well I had the same thought when I first came here too. Not until I actually got to know where exactly to get the baking supplies  hehehe. I actually bought an oven here. You can buy your oven from Nguyen Kim plaza along Trung Hung Dao street in district 1.

As for the baking supplies, cake tins and the all the other stuff, you can head to 60, Ham Nghi Street. There's this shop called Western Food Grocery Shop. They have all the imported products and as well as baking
supplies that you can think off!

Hope this clears your doubt :D happy hopping and baking :)

Sheena.
