Travel to Northern Sinai Peninsula

buzztrader1

Greetings,

I'm hoping someone can share what they know about the current access to the Northern Sinai Peninsula specifically the town of Al-Arish towards the Rafah Crossing?

I'm a US citizen looking to travel to this part of Egypt in Late April/ early May. I'm not sure if I'm legally allowed to travel to this area and If I am, what type of visa I would need or if a standard visa would work?

I am aware the US State Dept has deemed the Northen Sinai a "Do Not Travel" area

All info is appreciated!

I truly appreciate any insight or resources you all might have. I've already knocked on a few doors however its been radio silence.

Thank you

Best Regards,

Chance

@Time Walk85

I'm not attempting to be suspicious at all. Full disclosure is my desire to go there to pray for the people of Gaza and Palestine. Yes, it is a tense time but that shouldn't stop people of faith from moving forward to petition on behalf of the oppressed during a time of ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Those are my reasons for going to this place

May it be well with you

That may or may not be true, but the US government will probably assume it is.

Getting there might well be difficult, and likely dangerous depending upon the OP's race and skin colour, but going home might prove to be equally so.

US border control might well detain him upon return.

The situation in that country is deteriorating rapidly, so the OP needs to consider all possibilities before he travels - US citizen or otherwise, his chance of arrest on reentry to the US is worth considering.

Hi, I hope I can help you little. First of all, this is a protected area . You need permission from Egyptian Security. there two ways to go, first from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, your embassy need to request and they will arrange a transport. and you have to explain why you need to go . second as journalist this also using your embassy. I visited several times as a journalist after war blow up . other there no way. You cannot pass the new Suez Canal. if you try it is very very risky

Fred

So OP now has an answer from the horse' mouth.

Any attempt to enter the region without proper reason and permission is likely to end up badly.

Thank you to Fred and Mduzzalkahn, I appreciate all of the information and insight. I will consider these potential outcomes and contact the US embassy for possible travel arrangements.

If I appear suspect to my Government (US) or to the Egyptian Government it does not matter to me. We live in times of great evil and we must stand in the face of it or be swallowed.

Thank you to everyone for their help. I truly appreciate it

Peace be upon yu
