Going to Gassim

Post new topic

smithj7

This is Jamie.  I posted once, but I thought I was going to Tabuk.  I arrived in Riyadh yesterday afternoon and am off to Qissim this morning.  Any news on this area of Saudi will be welcomed.  Thanks.

I'll be teaching English there.  I'm from Florida.

Till later,
Jamie

I might be on my way as well, how is it?

It's a very small, conservative place reknowned for its dates (the kind you eat, not the *fun* kind).

The coasts are less conservative than the interior. They also have the sea!  You can swim, fish, dive.  Also, there are many expats in the Dammam area due to Aramco and additionally, it's convenient to Bahrain!

So true!!! Eastern Province is by far the place to be in KSA, way more relaxed than the rest. You should check it yourselves and cross over the Bridge too.

I cannot even go in-land without whining LOL.

Well, the way I look at it is that living in Riyadh has given me the inner strength to live almost any where!

:) I doubt about Qassim.
Imagine a city where any colors/designs/embroidery on Abayas are discouraged. So many (pirates looking) thob-clads with long beards ;) Naqabs (veils) and black gloves are appreciated.....Well, well don't scream! :) I've been there yet. Just a hearsay.

You know what, though?  Something I've learned here  is that appearance often means nothing.  Sometimes the women all in black/gloves  are the friendliest; the guys with the mutawa beards lovely people. Can't assume anything.
