Amazon from Cuenca?

We were hoping to do a 4-5 day trip in the Amazon from Cuenca, but I'm not finding any tours based in Cuenca. We'd rather not have to fly anywhere, if possible. Suggestions?

Well, we went from Quito to the Amazon in November.聽 I walked into a Travel Bureau, told them how much time we had and they did the rest.聽 20 minutes later it was all arranged.聽 The following morning at 9am there was a car with a driver waiting in front of the hotel we were staying at and an interpreter walked into the lobby and introduced herself.聽 They grabbed our bags, and about 3 hours later we were at the lodge the agency booked for us.聽 The driver and the vehicle went back to Quito and came 4 days later to pick us up.聽 The interpreter stayed with us wherever we went.聽 Since this was the end of our trip and our flight back to the states was a "red eye", we asked to be dropped off at the airport.聽 We arrived at about 10pm, and our flight home left a couple of hours later.聽 It was great!
