Go to Jarir in Hyatt Mall. At the front of the store, they have kiosks for the three main ISP's: Go, Mobily and STC.Â
I went with GO.. but check all of their deals and pick the best.
I got a free modem and had it all set up the same night!

Thanks for the rapid response, are you using 3g or is it land line?

You can check out GO .
hmm .. tbh its up to the place you are in .. some people complaining about Go service and some other people love it and happy with it .. same thing to mobily and STC ..
its about how many people are connected to the same tower (WiMax).
i got wimax mobily...it was good wen i first got it not its gone a bit slow, i am told the tower is a problem. the good thing is that it is porable so u can travel with it. before this i had stc. i had too many problems with it. i also had a lot of problems with unknown charges coming to me. then i tried to close the account and it took like 2 years. service not so good. so i advise u go for the deal that is prepaid. i had tough time with the account system.
Yes, I paid for six months and got two free, so a total of 8 prepaid.
Hey Moe! How did it turn out?
Alliecat, My problem is that I have a temporary aprtment, moving into new one in two weeks, I have no bank account as yet as I have not aquired my igama so I am stuck with mobile dongle , there does not seem to be any other option to spend 350 -400 sar on the unlimited download package as I do not think the 1 gb or 5 gb will suit my needs. Having said all that I am off on Thursday afternoon so I will bite the bullet and pay the cash to whoever has the best deal, seems like STC at the moment. When I get the bank and apartment I will get a land line setup.
Thanks for your help

I've only been here a few weeks but I'm at the FAL compound and they have everything available here at the administration office. I just went in and told them I wanted my internet service turned on and they did it. I am told I will receive a monthly bill. Guesss I'll find out how much that is soon. I have days where it is good and other days not so good as it is WiFi. Have you checked with the office at your compound to see if it is available?

I am in Asasco compound and it is very poor,I have major problems with cockroaches even to the point of them running along the bench while I prepare my food, it has taken 2 days for them to attempt to fumigate,it seems to be mainly philipino bangladeshi and indian folk here I have not met another Brit or American. My company has its business developement guy in here also but he has been in this compound for years so he is up to speed so to speak.
So i do not belive the internet is availlable as such from the compound office as they also struggle to change a light bulb. Going to bite the bullet today and buy a month of unlimited Mobily connect and see what happens in the next few weeks.
Thanks for reply.
Wow, sounds like your company put you in a bad place. Hope its worth your staying and putting up with it. I know I would be having second thoughts.

Yeah, the money is good, but any chance of my wife comming to visit between trips home has gone, she would not want to come here.
I am actually moving into a new apartment in the next few days in the same compound, so i hope its going to be roach free.
The social life in the compound is zero so I will need to find things to do outside. I usually manage ok so heres hoping.
I have a mate from Sudan who used to live next door to me in England but moved away 4 years ago,I have recently found out that he is living in Riyadh, he is Consultant pediatrician at King Fahed, so I will be spending time with him when I can.
Strange combination, a white guy from Newcastle England with a Sudanese pal!!!

Hope everything works out. Keep in touch. Who knows I may bump into your friend since I work in the medical field and my wife is a nurse and hopefully will be joining me soon.

Holy crap! This sounds horrible! If you're making a lot of $$, you might want to consider renting your OWN place elsewhere. Lots of times guys rent large villas and share the space.

Alliecat, just been here 1 week now so I am still finding my feet, its the company who pay and allocate the acommodation and with it being a small local company I did not expect 5 star but I did not expect to have unpaying guests!!
I could ask the company to find alternative living arrangements but am going to give the new apartment a chance, although I do not expect great things. I can put up with 70s style furniture and decor, I can even replace it in time but Roaches to the extent I have at the moment, no way.
Was watching a movie on tv via my laptop last night and one ran across my screen. I purchased a can of spray the other day ad carry it around from room to room, I feel naked without it if I leave it anywhere.
Anyway enough of the moaning, 1.30 finish and time to explore.
Thanks for your concern
Al
Your a better man than me. I'd be in a hotel and telling the company if they don't find something better I don't care how much your paying me I am out of there...

Believe me Eldon, if the next apartment is anywhere near as bad this will happen.

Well, you know, maybe you can arrange for them to give you a cash allowance inlieu of housing. This isn't uncommon here, to be given the option. Just negotiate--HARD!
That would be my plan of action or I would be on the next plane out..I can take a lot of things but roaches in the house aren't one of them.
Eldon
Roaches are disgusting.
