Relocation to Philippines

Post new topic

Dear all,
I am planning to relocate to the Phils. I am Swiss currently based in Hong Kong.
Relocation to Phils is not as easy as I thought and thus I am seeking some advise from anyone who has moved to the Phils before.
The big issue I have is the relocation of my personal effects. As I read many expats are staying in the Phils just on a tourist visa but this has customs implications on the import of personal effects. The customs duties are huge.
Has anyone ever moved their personal belongings to the Phils without an investor's visa, a retirement visa and not being married to a Philippine citizen? Is there any way around these fees.
Furthermore if anyone has any good references for a relocation company I'd highly appreciate that.
I thank you for any information and experiences anyone might be able to share with me on this topic.

Hi there! How much of personal belongings are you talking about? Please PM me the details so we can help you properly, unless you prefer to get your information out in the open, that's fine too. I will send you two relocation companies who are both International but are based here in Manila.

Dear Pinaymentor,

Thank you for your information provided. From quotes that I got from intl. relocation companies the estimate is approx. 580 cuft, although I believe the actual should be lower (500 cuft).
I would appreciate if you could advise the contacts of the local relocation companies.
Thanks again.
