Living / safety in Johannesburg

Hi ....

I am moving for two years to Joburg and will work in Newtown. Friends told me not to live there but instead to watch out for a home in Sandton. Generally I do agree, but how is the traffic from Sandton to Newtown and how safe are the ways ? How would be living in Newtown ? Or did anybody has other tipps for a "safe" living area in Joburg ? Thank you very much ....

Compared to where I live now, the traffic seems quite easy :-D

Just my opinion: safety is more important than traffic. Also you need nice stuff around you for evenings and weekends.
