Its pretty much same here where i'm staying. Alot of stray cats & dogs in need of homes. Just yesterday, near my apartment i saw a kitten, very tiny and scared.. i think it was looking for some food.. 
You just become so attached to these poor animals when you feed them thats the difficult part.
True. I tend to feed them now and again, when i have food left over..
