Going from Riyadh to Yanbu

Post new topic

Dear All,

I'll be going from RIyadh to Yanbu by road in a couple of days. There are two highways, one passes through Medina and other through Jeddah and Makkah. Ive heard that in Hajj season the entry to both Makkah and Medina is restricted only to Hajis. Would appreciate if someone could confirm this and what is the exact location where entry is blocked.

Since I wont be having Hajj permission and will only be on transit to Yanbu, will i be allowed to pass or is there any alternate way or method. Thanks for your kind help.

You can take either highways actually..
If you decide to go through Mecca. You will find an exit which takes you to Jeddah directly through Taif and overrides going to Mecca (road is narrow and not well built. Perhaps old)

If you decide to go thought Madina. You can pass it with no problems as it is not restricted for those who have Hajj permit only.

Makkah isn't restricted to only people with the Hajj permit just yet. It might be after another week or two, but not at the moment.
