1. Girls (both marriageable and other)
2. Low costs, especially for fresh food and schools
3. People friendly to foreigners, especially Americans
4. English widely spoken
5. Tropical climate (though tastes for that differ)

While international connections to Asia and the US are very good, transportation in the countryside leaves a lot to be desired.

You can find 5+1 reasons pro, but just as well 5+1 reasons contra.
