Well, my boss has told me that you can buy anti-depressants across the counter here (and that half her Saudi friends take them lol).

If they do have oxazepam, it quite probable it won't be under the same name, unless the UK and Saudi use the same brand names (the USA is different; for example, when I first arrived I had a heck of a time trying to get 'tylenol' since it's called 'panadol' here!).

Thanks it's a tranquilizer though I used to take Xanax but I'm told it is banned here !

Hi,  I am moving to Riyadh in January .   I have several medications I take, mostly for asthma and high blood pressure but I do take medication for ADHD  (Straterra... Non stimulant) and serquil for sleep.  They are all prescribed.  Is it Ok to bring in a 1-3 months supply until I can find a doctor  or see if my meds are OTC.

Sorry to hear that you need to take medications, wish you recover and have good health.

My opinion, bring your medication with you.
If it is not avalabile here, pharmacists can provide the alternative medication.

Al-Habib Hospital is fameous with thier pharmcy, they have almost all the medications available in the world.

One thing to remember here is that it's probably sold under a different name.  For example, what is called Tylenol in the US is sold as Panadol here.  It's the same with most medication.

Thanks,  I appreciate that.  I think my main concern is bringing a few months supply into KSA.. I have heard many common prescription drugs are band and one could get arrested for bringing them in even if they are in prescription bottles frompharmacies and properly labeled. Know anything about bringing medications into the country?

I brought migraine meds (prescribed) that contained barbituate that came through, no problem. 

What you have to remember is there is an virtually no chance the  guys scanning your baggage will open it (never happened to me and I've re-entered 10X).  Even if they *did* open your baggage, they can't read English.  If they are examining the bottle, just point to your head or stomach, or whatever, and indicate the pills are for there.  I would 99.99999999999% guarantee you'll have no problem.  However, once here, you quite probably won't be able to get a refill.  I didn't get the barbituates but I *have* gotten prescribed meds with codeine that were almost as effective.
