Haha that's interesting to know. Well I don't think there's any good or bad to that - fast food is just fast food. Even without import, Cambodia has its own fast food, like BBworld. Of course, I will be happy to have more choice.

KFC started off very well, but seem to have gone downhill in the past year or so.
A Khmer lack of QC in my humble opinion.

In Indonesia McDonald´s introduced clean toilets, you could always "steal" a toilet at McDonald´s.

I agree with you, KFC was very good in Cambodia but now they have gone down hill (portion of fries very small, also the added tax on the bill), I ate in BBWorld today in the Sorya Mall, the worst burger I have ever had, tasted like very cheap frozen burgers, again fries were small.

Burger King and McDonalds in Thailand are very good quality, I also hope Burger King can bring the quality.

So does this mean we can REALLY have it our way...... I hope

The death sentence for Lucky Burger.

My opinion is that 95% westerner's and 65% of the local will like Burger King over what's already in Cambodia.  The 35% of the local that won't like it because they think that charcoal burnt burger cause cancer, and some just won't like the sauce, and the rest because of the price.  (just my opinion for the first years or so, the new generation will be higher in favor of liking it)

Overall i think it's going to do well.  I've tried Burger King in many countries and never seen one that didn't do well.

I think you are correct, my preference is McDonalds however, but you cannot fault these 2 players, I have eaten in them in Mexico and they adapt them to the Mexican pallet.

I believe they will have sauce for Cambodians, the charcoal is an interesting point I have never heard of before.

I also think they have to have the portion size for westerners, we like good size portions of food to feed our big bellies.

I think KFC in Cambodia is a big disappointment,lets hope any new fast food outlets do not go the same way.

So far in my lifetime all the Burger King that open the sauce remain the same.  The only thing i notice is they put less sauce in China and Vietnam,  but i guess you could always ask for extra sauce then there would be no difference. 

Btw, keep us inform if u know when the grand opening is.  Maybe it's a good idea for a expat meet-up.  Lol.

I don't think Australia has burger king.. I've never been. I guess I'll try it when it comes to the city.

oh.. wow I never knew that. i've only had the veggie burgers there, my friend got really sick from an uncooked burger (apparently) and was in hospital for 3 months so kinda freaked me out.

I think it is good... for a consumer its always good to have more options... would still like to see a MacDonalds... amazing so many in Thailand but none here...

It was just announced that the number of Americans who are severely obese increased by 70 percent in 10 years.  Seven percent of Americans are now in that category of severely obese (100 pounds overweight).  This is a full blown health crisis that will send healthcare costs skyrocketing.  I'm not saying that Burger King, KFC and McDonald's are solely responsible for this trend but when you pack that many calories into food that is fatty, salty and sweet it is bound to create major health problems.  If Cambodians are smart they will stick to their natural diet and say NO to Burger King.

Just more American garbage to stuff down the throats of people worldwide. NOT a good thing.

If you like burgers and outstanding fries you need to check out Mike's Burger House.  Mike is a Cambodian who lived in Long Beach for years and brought back everything he knows about burgers.  He grinds his own meat and they blow away any fast food burger I've ever had (except maybe Whataburger in Texas).  The profits stay local and the quality is just outstanding.  The fries are plentiful and you can meet Mike--he's a character!  Go there and then tell me we need Burger King.  We need more Mikes!  It's on Sihanouk headed out to the airport just past the Royal University on your right.

i can vouch for mike's burger, although it's not where you said it is. it's on Russian federation just before the turn off to toul kork on the eastern side. soooo good.

Thank you for the correction. It is on Russian Federation, just past the Royal University but on the opposite side of the road as you are headed to the airport.  This is also the only place I've found in PP to buy dried pinto beans.  Mike's wife was happy to open a big bag and sell me a smaller portion.
