At least 22 people were killed and 111 injured after a fuel truck crashed into a concrete flyover and exploded in Riyadh early Thursday, officials said.
Lt. Gen. Saad Abdullah Al-Twaijri, director general of civil defense, said the number of casualties could increase as rescuers were still searching the rubble of a building demolished by the explosion.
The accident happened along Quraish road, one of the city's main arteries on the eastern part of the capital city.

The pics I have seen are very disturbing. I know the location very well and I think speeding there is impossible. Horrible and very tragic accident.

The tanker was carring LPG which is heavier than air so will flow like water but is highly explosive. If it comes in contact with any ignition source will cause a massive explosion which looks like happened the gas leaked out and then flowed into the area under the fly-over ignighting either from a cigarette or a even the spark from the ignition from a car! I fear this was a case of the poor driving standards here along with poor vehicle testing and maintenance, the perfect storm so to speak!

i heard they are blaming the driver for causing the accident and hitting some pillar....there is also a video which is showing people throwing money in the air from the safe in the destroyed building....

Possible if you're reckless and trying to beat up a red signal!

Hahaha...You can say that again, TLL!... :one

note : a PAK driver of the same Gas Co. who is making the delivery to our company, spoke about the incident, saying he know the driver...and somehow, he said that it might be the driver's fault for driving with knowledge that there's a leak in the truck (as to what said in the earlier news i quote "some people say that the truck is already leaking..." or something)...or should it be just the company's fault for not maintaining their trucks well? oh well, what done is done... :(
