Will it be difficult for me to find housing in Saigon for only two months?

What do you guys suggest?

No, as long as you are happy with renting a room or a hotel on a long term basis.

You have to do a deal with a hotel which, after your have carefully inspected the room you are to be rented (careful about swaps!) then talk about paying a week or two weeks up front for each period.

The high season is about to begin which means prices will be more firm.

You can most likely find deals in Quan 1 (central) in Pham Ngu Lao - the backpacker slum - and a couple of places on Ha Bai Trung.

Thank you for your response Jaitch.

Do you know of any housing websites besides craigslist?

Good point. Quan 1,3 maybe 5 are definitely the most suitable for downtown/tourist activities.

Public transit, other than taxi, is slow, unpredictable, unreliable but cheap.

Obviously, your core/prime reason for visiting TP HCM will govern your accommodation, unless you have private wheels.

From downtown, driving at the limit, will take over 1 hour in two directions, 45 minutes in another and 90 in yet another to reach the city (Metro) limits.

Most visitors barely make it out of downtown. Even Foreigner residents don't visit many parts of the city!

Arrive here first before deciding on where to live.

I don't really know anything about the districts. However, I have family & friends that live in Saigon, so I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I'm looking to spend $300 - $400 for rent. Sharing a apartment with other expats would be a plus.
