what women wear at work?

Post new topic

MitraMor

Hi everybody,
I am moving to Bergen in January and I can use some advise about what women wear at office. I mean it is OK to wear heels or high heels boots at work? Do they wear informal or formal clothes?

Honestly, I have to buy lots of clothes and I do not want to waste them.

Thanks a lot for answers.

I've spent a lot of time working with Norwegians in Norway and I think the biggest impediment to wearing fancy shoes is the weather.

I have been working in healthcare admin/IT (in offices and in hospitals) and women do wear boots often but I don't see very many high heels. My guess is that the Norwegians seem to be generally practical so they want to be able to walk and not have their shoes impede them. In the winter, high heels are quite a challenge to get around in.

In general it does seem to be less formal here than other places. But, if you have a lot of client contact, you will still need to be professionally dressed.

It might be worth checking with the specific company, as it can vary.

You do not want to wear heels in Norway in January - it is too cold!

I should guess most people wear thermal socks etc :D

Hi Mitra! In Bergen, office clothes are usually casual. Heels and boots are okay, but many people wear comfy shoes in the winter. You’ll see both formal and casual styles, so it's good to have a mix. Make sure to dress warmly!
