Coffee mornings in Riyadh

Post new topic

don'tlikethecold

Hi

I am wondering if anyone can help with information on how to get invited to coffee mornings. I don't live in a compound and most of my friends don't live in compounds either. Two of my friends who do live in compounds, live in small ones and they don't get informed about many of the coffee mornings.  Is there any way to register myself without being accompanied by someone from one of the bigger compounds? I have been to Kingdom compound coffee morning but it's only once a month and it seemed like more of a market day than a place to make new friends.

Thanks for any useful info :)

Why not just set up your OWN Kingdom coffee day here and try to get some of the ladies together?  It's been done before but unfortunately many of the original people have left the kingdom.

As you know, it takes time and effort to get a group meeting.  Somebody has to step up to the plate and get the Ladies Kingdom Coffee Morning going again since the *other* people who were doing it have left.

BTW, I was never part of that group.  Unfortunately they were trailing spouses and had their meetings on a workday

Actually a few friends and I have started our own mother and toddler/baby group. Any female who is interested is free to join us. Just PM me.We usually meet up at shopping malls. It's just nice to go somewhere different, especially somewhere where we don't have to wear an abaaya!

Hi I'm a newbie in KSA. I live in a small female only compound. I'd love to meet some new lovely people for coffee anytime :-)

Would really appreciate if u gets a bit flexible on gender restriction :) boredom and aloofness is equally detrimental for single males :)

So hopefully the next coffee morning u organize will be open for males too (and off course weÂ’ll abide the rules, no one want to see indecent stalkers and vagabonds around).

By the way, I am available to help u in setting up one (on weekends only)

Take a look at the "expat classified" site on facebook.
Ranco compound has a coffee morning advertised for the 11th Feb.
Most of the larger compounds have a monthly coffee morning charging a small entrance fee offering food, vendors, raffle prizes etc.

But, unfortunately (in my experience) these coffee mornings are basically for the 'trailing spouses' and take place on workdays :(

A bit defensive, are we? ;)

Compound activities are set up for the people who LIVE there and since women who accompany their husbands are generally not working, the coffee gatherings are on weekdays (since couples would generally want to spend the weekend together).

Nothing to get your knickers in a knot about!

Nope I just have a sense of humour :P & didnt realise I had to defend myself??!

Yes weekends for most are about family time & socialising with our hubbys.

Ranco coffee morning is open to ladies who dont live on the compound so it seems ideal for the two ladies who would like to meet new friends and asked the question about "information on how to get invited to coffee mornings"

Have a great weekend all :)

Hey, you didn't cause any offense.  But it seems like in KSA, people are divided in so many ways.  This is just another one of those ways.  I think I've always been jealous of you guys, anyway ;)

Mostly u do not need to live in compound for coffee mornings. U just need to get in touch with the managers/supervisors of Bigger compounds recreation center and u will get mail on the right whenever they organize it. Did u try Kingdom coffee mornings ?

As Allie already mentioned, most of the ladies organize their own coffee mornings.

clairesj

Hi Ladies, the coffee morning on Ranco compound has been postponed to 18th March heres the link on facebook.
