Sorry - I forgot to answer your other question. Yes, there are some troubles nowadays for the anniversary of the uprising happened in 14 Feb 2011. But nothing to be so concerned about in my opinion. Come by Sunday things should settle down even further anyway.

Looking forward to a great weekend spent there in Bahrain. By the way,  can we go there even without a passport? As of now, i dont have my iqama yet. I only hold a temporary one. What should i bring besides iqama? or iqama is really needed? Thanks

You will need a visa and your passport to enter to Bahrain (Filipino people cannot get a visa upon arrival at the airport, you will need a visa beforehand). Once you have the visa (and ensure you have multi entry/exit visa from Saudi), then you can come to Bahrain. Your Iqama does not have much use in Bahrain airport.

My passport is withheld by my employer. Might be released when contract expired. I thought we can always go there anytime we want. As if just like entering a city.

The public practice of any religion other than Islam, including Christianity and Judaism, the presence of churches, and possession of non-Islamic religious materials is not allowed except in Aramco compounds in which many expatriates attend church services.

If you are close to any Aramco compounds or navy/army/air bases that aren't muslim then try there. Most of them are open to the public.

Good luck. You could always ask your employer for a multi exit/entry visa but due to your nationality (which in my opinion is wrong) they may refuse you.

Personally I feel that any human being should be offered the right to travel with their passport and shouldn't have it detained unless by a customs official for legitimate reasons.

I know in Saudi it is common practice for the employer to hold on to your passport but I am not 100% sure that this is legal.

If I was you I would look into this (quietly)
