Easiest European country to find work in as a South African

Post new topic

curds

Hello Guys!

So, uhm I'm looking for a new country to move to and I've tried Google and as far as I can tell its ridiculously hard to find work in Europe as a non-EU member.

I'm not limited to just the EU, but most of the information is on the EU.

I'm a South African passport holder and I know I need a tourist visa for so many countries, I'm not looking forward to all the paperwork just to attempt getting a working visa.

I'm fairly young 26 female and I have a degree, not much experience in any long term career fields, but I'm not looking to go to Europe to save money just enough to live ;)

Any suggestions on countries to look at would be great!

Thanks,
Curds

Armand

Hi Curds!

Maybe you could tell in what field you are willing to work so that members can advise you accordingly.

As I've stated I don't have much experience in any particular field so I'm pretty open on fields to work in.

If it helps I majored in psychology and communication, my working experience to date is ESL, career counselling and retail.

I'm not a qualified psychologist and I don't have a TEFL, I didn't need it. If need be I could get a TEFL/CELTA, but ESL work is very competitive in Europe and I would be happy with a 9-5 job.

I would even consider internships as long as they provided a stipend and accommodation.

I currently live in Asia and would like to work somewhere outside of Asia for a bit.

Thanks

Armand

Maybe you should try browsing the different countries' forums and read jobs related topics. It might help you make a decision.

Good luck

Hello curds

Coming from RSA, I'd say the UK and Ireland are the most promising for you, you might even be able to use your knowledge about Asia and South Africa in some of the numerous international companies based there.

But Europe is in recession while Asia and RSA are up. I wouldn't mind to leave Europe to Asia...

As for this forum, as you have noticed, instead of answering, some people are redirecting you to old posts, which is pretty useless. While your question was quite clear.

Cheers

You could try Montenegro, look it up. Or Georgia eastern europe.

Hi

I stumbled on your message - Im in a similar position - desperate to move to Europe (Austria preferably as I know people there).

I was just wondering if you have had any luck with your original question or is this a hopeless cause.

Thanks and cheers

Maximilien

Hi StephRou,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà :)

I suggest you start a new thread on the Austria forum for a better interaction

Thank you :)

Hello Steph rou,

Unfortunately I had no luck in procuring a job in Europe. I tried various programs, but they didn't have agreements with S.A and thus I didn't qualify.

The only place I seem to be able to find work in is in the Republic of Georgia, but that's more of a volunteer living with a Georgian family deal.

ps: My apologies for the late reply, but lol I'm trying to think of  my looming unemployment as more of a vacation and thus haven't seriously looked at finding work the last few months.
