Help me decide! Aktobe, Uralsk, or Kokshetau? Or go UAE?

Hello! I'm a teacher in the USA who has been offered a position with NIS in any of the above mentioned towns. Does anyone have any insights on these areas? I am bringing my 12 year old daughter, 14 year old son, and husband on this adventure.  I've lived in Japan for several years, as has my daughter. We've all travelled, but I don't know what choice to make. I'm worried about my kids hating life. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Greenfir!

Well it depends on where in UAE.. If Dubai, then you simply can not compare Uralsk with Dubai..

Kazakhstan would be such a great lifetime experience, and I mean it.
But with kids, I am afraid, it will be a bit difficult at the beginning, simply because in all the mentioned Kazakhstani cities people mostly... barely speak English, so in terms of communication it will be an issue. But if you know some Russian, then why not to try to live in here.

Best,
N.

The VP in Aktobe is a bi-racial, nice fella from the USA & speaks fluent Kazakh.  His wife is from there & he knows every nook & cranny.  Not much there but you'll be in good hands.

Unless you're prepared to to take a $10-15K haircut, DO NOT go to Kokshetau!

internationalschoolsreview.com - best $25 bucks you'll ever spend & a must if you dare stick your big toe into the international schools water

Can't speak for URA but know the former boss who's a jam up fella.  Unfortunately, he's transferring south.

Art teacher man

His name is Nathan Lawler. I have his contact if you need it. You said that you were in contact with a woman but maybe he mostly helps with the western part of the country. He is really helpful. I asked a lot of questions and he answered each one. Luckily since his wife was from Aktobe and they were visiting they checked out apartments for the teachers. We emailed during the decision and they were able to secure it. He sent pictures. Recently I asked about the curriculum and within 2 hours he was able to provide me with the 7th and 8th grade arts guide but the high school is finishing up the next few weeks.

I'd go with Aktobe but I'm partial :D

LOL, I try to get back to people ASAP because I feel that teachers deserve that level of respect and professionalism. Having said that, my wife has threatened to break my IPad. :-)
