From an Extreme to Extreme!

Post new topic

Hello everybody!

I'd like to share my experience that I am living now where I had to drive more than 100 kelometers to find a net connection in such roughly mountinanouse roads that I am not used to drive in! Ironically, we always hear this statement alot but I've lived it utterly myself with all the definition that might entail of its meaning!

After living in Japan for many yrsrs! Japan the most sophisticated country and the most advanced in indudty and technology. I came to visit my father who lives in a farm in the middle of no where as there is no net! No mobile! No electricity! Currently, I am in the middle of huge farm with bunch of cows, dogs and farmers who wake up upon the sunrise!  This is definitely a shift from an extreme to an extreme! Most importantly however, such big transition make us more appriciate our modern and easy life more!!

Such contentment will make it easier and smoother to adopt any huge shift or big transaction like this!

Been there and done something similar

Here Australia for many years the only connection with the outside world on cattle stations was a peddle powered long range radio.

Children did their schooling on them, wives called up for food deliveries and in the case of an accident they called up the flying doctor.

I used long range radios for many years in different countries I worked in.

These days we are definitely spoiled with satellite internet etc.

Where are the extremes?  Some people - a lot of people - prefer to live simpler lives in small farm villages.
