I remembered I ordered 2 pairs of shoes and one handbags..
by the time I got to the last payment section..
they said certain merchants can not be delivered here
so pissed off and have not looked at it since..

but probably will try to order some books.. ( I wonder what will happen if I order playboy~~)
however,,from my experience
1. courier fees to Vietnam seems higher than to other countries
2. you will have to pay a lot of duty when it is imported
3. VN custom always open your parcel...

My great aunt sends her son condoms from the US as she didn't trust the Vn condoms.
Don't think he paid any duty LOL

Last time I tried to order something from Amazon from my computer here, I got a message saying Amazon couldn't accept my order because my I.P. address was outside the USA. Given all of you are talking about ordering large size condoms as if its no problem, I'm guessing they've changed their policy now?

they can do international delivery. and I am very sure about it
maybe what it meant to say is some items were not able to be delivered outside the US . such as cosmetics. which needs some approval first

Back on topic:
I always have Amazon send the parcels to a relative's US address and then ask my relative to re-pack (if several packages) and then send on to me in VN.  So far quick, relatively cheap, no duties or other problems...

Wasn't talking about delivery. Didn't even get that far. I'm talking about payment. I'm a registered user with them and have a registered Visa credit card issued in the USA. When I tried to issue payment, I got the message. I complained vehemently with them. Just got a trite response, "that's our policy", to which I replied it'll be my policy to never do business with them again, even when I'm in USA. Maybe they had many other complaints like mine, and have changed their policy now.

Exactly. The issue was that my I.P. address does not match my credit card billing address. It's idiotic on their part not to expect anyone to place an order with a credit card away from the credit card billing address.

Just order not very expensive one, if total amount > US$100 you have to pay tax (% depends on items you buy, clothes: 30%). And expensive items may never be delivered to you (because custom officers like them, too ). Some sellers will not deliver to Vietnam so you should contact them first if you really want to buy from them.

I think they calculated correctly, import tax for leather shoes is 38% + VAT 10% = 48%*$156 = $74.88 ~ VND 1,500,000

You can use this Freight Forwarder in San Jose, California.



They will forward whatever you buy online in the USA (Amazon, Walmart, Macys, etc..) to your address in VN.  They send out a shipment every Friday from San Jose via China Airlines and the packages arrive 3 to 4 days later.  They also have another service which pays the customs tax for you, or you can go to the air cargo building and process on your own.  I usually email them a detailed list of what I want to buy first and ask them for 2 separate quotes - one shipping only and the other - shipping with customs included.

An average 50 pound box costs 110 usd for freight only or 200 usd for freight and customs (though it could be higher depending on what you are buying so always ask for a detailed quote first).  Just talk to Christine - she's the manager.

there are plenty of shops that can make any size you want.
its a nice place and they will make them for you on the day.

they are not just for people who like to wear imitations..................i know some just don't get it.
I know this because I have bought shoes there that are made for me in different colours,shapes
and they are absolutely not designer shoes.

shoes shopping is kinda retail therapy ^^

There are shops here that take orders from US and Europe websites for you so you can avoid duty.

My friend runs one on facebook, called . Basically total price = price of item in US/Europe + 7% of price (buying fee) + VND300,000/kg (shipping charge to Vietnam).
The information on the page is in Vietnamese, but she speaks English fluently so you can just contact her directly if interested in the service.

I've never had to pay anything extra, but nothing in the package was of particularly high value.  A few things at a time with a value of maybe $100 per shipment...

I had some wine making gear worth about 12 $US sent to me from UK by courier. It took six days to get to Saigon from London and 7 days to get to me in Q8.

A portable shower head valued at about 4 $US was sent to me by post from UK and never arrived.

By contrast, a very smelly blue cheese which took ten days to get to Saigon from London, crossed Saigon in a matter of a couple of hours from arriving as the customs refused to keep it in their storage place and demanded that the post office pick it up immediately. We then got an urgent phone call from the post office requesting us to come immediately and pick it up as it was stinking the place out.

I found the latter case somewhat amusing, since the Vietnamese themselves eat some fairly smelly things regarding which my (Vietnamese) wife always tells me "eat it, it's delicious", even if it smells of badgers urine to me.

I poured her a glass of red wine and loaded a dry cracker biscuit with butter and blue cheese, which she refused absolutely to eat, making amusing gasping and retching noises the while.

A lot may have to do with the sellers rather than Amazon.com per se.   There are several items that sellers will not ship to Hawaii even though the cost on US Postal Service is identical to that to other US locations.  As far as shipping to Vietnam, I have shipped some small items and also books.  I think that Amazon's database may take into account what items will require duties and which will not.  Electronics, even low cost items, never seem to be shippable.   I expect they don't wish to deal with items that could incur duties.

but if in case i have some amazon gift cards from my auntie and i only have that choice to shopping. my issue is can i shop from vn using my fone ip address in vietnam and ship to my auntie's address in wincousin and then she ll ship back to me then.i really confused and hope it ll work.

2weeks ago, I ordered a wrist watch from Amazon. They delivered it on time without any tax. It is possible for you to buy something with giftcard and send it to your relatives. To avoid tax, you may have it sent as a gift. Low-value gift is tax free. I'm not sure about others but if the gift is under 100$, there is no tax
