Desktops are handy in many ways, but laptops are handy as they are easily carried around.
Second hand computers are commonly dodgy as you have no clue what the real condition is until you've used it for a while.
Another option is the stick computers that came out a while ago, and the option I went for.
The stick is small and very easy to carry, just add a TV, KB and mouse.
I went that way because I wanted something I could use at home, but carry easily when I go out to do a presentation.
I also have a windows tablet computer, that can also be expanded to use a keyboard, mouse and external monitor.
The downside of both is the lack of memory, but word processing and similar don't require much of that, so I have no worries.
My vast collection of films are kept on a hard drive I can plug in at will.

One of the problems of buying a second hand computer is that you don't know what it was used for in its previous life - hacking, storage and distribution of pornography, illicit copying of software are just three of the possibilities that spring to mind.

And you can still recover evidence of such use even when the HD has been formatted.

@ Eodmatt,  That's really risky  to buy  2nd and  PC  Thank you so much even i didn't  know  this  things, that's why  i always grateful   for Expact.com  to made great platform  to us.

Anyway  i need to  use Desktop at my home  but when  i go to by new  one  its too expensive   and  also have to buy  originals Windows. If  any suggestion?

I recently assembled one desktop with below configurations:

Intel Pentium G3450 @ 3.40GHZ
4 GB DDR III RAM
1 TB Seagate HDD
Asus Graphics Card (optional)
TP-Link wireless card
19" Philips Monitor
Asus DVD writer
ASRock Mother Board
SMPS, Cabinet, Logitech mouse & Keyboard..
Cost: 13 Million VND

Buying second hand is little cheap but give head ache in future unless you are an expert!

Every glitter is not a gold and every black stone is not a ordinary stone, it could be diamond too,  you just need to know what is the right thing. I bought an old Dell OPTIPLEX 790 Sever with 27" Lenovo screen including  1 year warranty. It's really doing good with me. My computer is only two and half years old and I confirmed it by  its international warranty date by its serial number, I also confirmed it by manufacturing date in the BIOS. You could see my computer and its configuration by following URL

There are many shops you could find in HCMC to buy old computers...
I bought it within half price !

Wish you could buy better computer as you needed !

Before you buy a computer you must know what you intend to use it for.
You don't buy a 2 seater sports car if you have a big family, and the same applies to computers - you buy one for the job in hand.
I see people buy the fastest processor they can, all backed up by loads of RAM and a massive hard drive, then use it for word processing they could have done happily on a quad core mobile processor with 2 gig of RAM.

Well, I was just making you aware of potential problems - satisfy yourself as best you can that the person selling the computer is legitimate (meaning that it isn't a stolen machine, or one used for illegal activities) and also note Freds comments above.

I stopped using a desk top computer about 6 years ago because I found that everything I could do on a desk top I could do just as well on a laptop.

But anyway, have a look at Craigs List Vietnam (I couldn't get the link to work).

And:

and note the following two points from that website:

1. "½ûÂþÌìÌÃ. I tend to trust this platform in general, and they do have a number of listings here. I guess the key is to Google the correct price for the repair before you go there, bargain hard, check the parts before they put them in, watch them do it and ask for a warranty. Good luck!"

2. "So, where can I buy secondhand or used laptops in Saigon?
The general consensus by locals and visitors alike is that buying a secondhand laptop in Vietnam is not the best idea. ‘Used’ tends to mean that most of the machine’s components have been removed or tampered with and are being ‘used’ in another machine, so your best bet is to buy new or not at all! Due to import tax, prices in Vietnam for laptops and netbooks are on average very high.

So it may be that your best bet for a second hand desk top is to buy from an ex-pat.com member who is changing his or her machine or who is relocating and is disposing of stuff before leaving Vietnam.
