I took my kids there once, the security guy charged me an entrance fee, I'm still not sure if that was a way to get a couple KD or part of the process. We were the only ones in there the whole time and I had to sneak and take pictures as they aren't allowed so I was 'coughing' a lot. There are so many places to visit which I've blogged about, I try to give people as much info about Kuwait as I can so they can enjoy it as much as I do. 2 kd is ok as it is a private museum. The style is very old-fashioned, without interactive screens and multimedia, like in modern museums. But these objects are so beautiful.... As for the relation between kuewait and culture, this is a big sad chapter. People just don' t care.

If you want some history, you might wanna visit Failaka Island, alot of the 1990 gulf war remains are still there, such as tanks, military vehicles and even damaged buildings, only if you care about seeing something so natural, for myself I dont go there for just history,fishing there is pretty awsome so the bait and hooks can always come along

It's too hot to go to Failika island now and recently it seems Safir hotel has taken over the island, in the past you could call the little hotel on the island and make reservations but now when you visit the site you are redirected to Safir website which means the prices have increased and it's now more commercial unlike the homey feeling it used to have before.

Tareq Rajab is the owner of the school I went to (NES) which was right around the block from the museum, I remember visiting it when I was in TES, and then when I moved to NES we went there during Arabic class once. good memories.

whilst honeymooning in Singapore, I told my wife (also an NES alumnus) that the museum we were visiting there (ACM - Asian cultural museum I think) bore a resemblance to the tareq rajab museum, once we went into the Islamic wing it turned out that he was a contributor to that museum as well! but it trumped what they had here in terms of interactive multimedia.

I think multi media would be awesome, the museum is beautiful but a little lonely with no one to really explain anything. You just look, read and leave without truly understanding the stories behind the items. I've also heard they will be demolishing the Kuwait National Museum at some point so anyone who has yet to visit might want to before it's gone.

Why do they plqn to demolish the National museum??? Cannot believe it. Just to conclude with the Tareq Rahab, I enjoyed also talking with the booksellers: he was so happy to describe me the content of the different books (I bought the one about the carved doors), and seemed so surprised to see a visitor. Books. Mysterious objects here in Kuwait.

there is also a cop museum in bneid al gar, its on the road beside Fudd Ruckers and Le Royal Hotel.
