TOUR DE FRANCE in Philippines

Post new topic

Whitty

Greetings,
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýI have recently moved to Samboan,Cebu and would like to watch the Tour de France .It starts July 5 I think . Does anyone know how I could watch it live here in Cebu? A company called Cignal is available here in Samboan, however I don't know if any of their sport channels will be broadcasting it live. They have, fox sports, star sports and solar sports listed on there sports channel list. Thanks in advance for any advise .
Also if you have never seen TDF, it's one of the world's most amazing sporting events and once you get some understanding of the tactics, teamwork and all the different specialist competitions all going on at the same time in the same race ,it becomes very exciting and interesting as well as being awe inspiring how they can cycle so hard for so long day after day.

They showed it a few years ago in a sports pub (which now is closed) but I would not know of any channel showing the entire event live in full lenght.

You can try your luck with the internet, there is a possibility even in facebook:

That is what the cyclists do (there are plenty in Cebu actually)

So if you are a die hard fan and have no high speed Internet yourself or a friend you can bother ( 2MB min reliable is recommended), go to some very fast speed Internet Cafe (those are only in the city!) and maybe arrange a fixed rate with them. In the Internet you most likely will find a lot of Free to Air Channels (including the original French TV) which have Streamaing.
And choose an Internet Cafe that is open long enough, since we got the time difference!
Sit there with your headphones, chips and softdrinks and enjoy.

If you don't want to do either, find a non live stream, where you can download, you will have something like 10-30 minutes delay, but if you don't check anywhere else for results, it is just as live as the genuine. (This is what I did with FIFA Events or Formula One races, instead of watching them at 4 am, I just "recorded" the stream broadcast on my PC) Butbe careful NOT to talk to ayone else who may know the result already, the fun is somewhat spoiled then.

Alternatively you can check some of the "Sports bars" in Cebu City, if they can tune their connections to some channel covering it.

Last, but not least, check the program schedule of those Cignal Channels online, they may cover just enough for you.
Currently Cignal is the best Satelite TV provider, not as good as cable, but cable is only in the big cities.

This morning I found a way that works ok. I downloaded google chrome .After that i got the proxy extension called HOLA .Next i used this HOLA to access sbs.com.au .This gave me free access to the sbs website in Australia. Now I can get much better coverage of the race..Just hope this info will help someone else.

Yes Whitty being able to change your IPN via a proxy server is the way to cheat the system etc. It is also very easy to do using Firefox for those who don't have (or have issues with) the privacy of Google Chrome. Works well for BBC iPlayer for those wishing to watch BBC or indeed ITV player too (UK).

Another alternative that works great for SKY TV subscribers in the UK is online remote access. OK you need good connection speed, but I watch SKY here in Angeles City by logging into my brothers subscription in the UK. Oh, I'm a naughty boy ;) Works a treat though! Live SKY TV, all channels, all movies, all sports - piped directly into my home for the cost of the additional remote access package. 30GBP per month. So be best friends with someone at home in the UK and do this if they already have SKY. Up yours Cignal! Hope these tips help someone else too.

Hi Richard,

Please consider posting a topic of your own on the forum. Whitty hasn't been on the website since 4 years already now... :(

hi Bhavna. With respect - very unlikely anyone on the forum will know about accessing live streaming of the Tour de France in the Phils! You never know maybe he's still out there.
