Post new topic

Hey everyone,
I am looking for a way to get a job in Tunisia and work there.
Any suggestions.....?

Browse through the Algerian forum and ask your questions there.
Or visit the job section in the green banner above the page from that forum.

Thanks. :)
Tried the jobs page but most of the jobs are for locals. I'll checkout Algerian forum as u suggested.

Hello s72.akhan!  Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà :top:

Kindly note that your thread is now on the Tunisia Forum.

For employment, I would suggest you to place an advert in our section Jobs in Tunisia, in the appropriate field you are seeking a work.

Regards

Hate to put  downer on this but it's unlikely you'll get a job unless you have contacts and even then an employer must demonstrate the job cannot be filled by a Tunisian.  There's a high unemployment rate amongst men so if you are a youngish male then there's little hope unless you have specialist skills such as engineering.

As standard you'll need Arabic and French and sometimes English.. big ask to be fluent in all.

Alternatively, the government are more welcoming of those looking to do a business start up.  That's probably the route I'll take although there are many frustrations with the way the country operates.  This is not Europe and so far I've not found the Tunisians to be welcoming of foreigners.

Good luck.

Thank you Carole. But as negative as it sounds, yours is the most accurate and honest reply.
It's so true. I have been trying and trying but there has been no positive outcome yet.
I do possess an experience of 8 years and I'm an HR specialist. I have a ton of job offers from Dubai but I haven't accepted any cuz I am getting married to a Tunisian girl and I'm doing my best to land a job in Tunisia for this one reason.

What about trying a major international company here?  They may be interested in your experience.  But you are right, it is very difficult for non Tunisians.  Most Tunisians applying for the jobs will have fluency in three languages (English, French and Arabic)

I have been trying since 3 months now. But no luck. I too am fluent English and Arabic and I'm a beginner in French.
But still...
Any suggestions...? Alternate methods ?

@rafiahmmed There is a system at Tunis airport for issuing certain visas (like Australian) where you go out, change @ 30 DT/20 Euros in the main part of the airport, then return to pay for your visa and you can go.  It is not complicated and takes just twenty minutes more than usual entry.  Maybe this is what the Embassy means?

@s72.akhan For trying to find work the best bet is to try and generate some sort of business between your home and Tunisia, then make some contacts/a network until the Tunisians see that you will make them money if they employ you.  Is this possible in your career?  Not all businesses are suffering since the revolution - there is an increased need for security companies for example and all the equipment they use.   In my opinion when looking for a job try and see what the employer will gain from employing you, not vice versa.  Also, lower your expectations for salary while you make friends because Tunisia is an old fashioned country where the most important thing for an employer is that he can trust you and trust can only be earned with time.  This is my opinion, not sure if it is correct though.
