hello people of abu dhabi
i am an expat for 10 months now and a foreign friend of mine is here for a visit
even though i've been here for quite some time i haven't really tour around
i was wondering if new expats can join us for a local food trip this coming weekend!?
preferably around the corniche area (i get lost easily)
i don't have a set list yet as to where and which restaurants to visit
i hope you can give us some suggestions..
looking forward to make this happen either friday or saturday (aug 8 and 9)

Hi, what food type is in your mind, i can suggest some restaurant :)

Wow I will not make it on time. I am arriving on Sunday. But I would be up for a monthly restaurant visit. I am not much of a fancy cuisine kind of guy but it would be cool to get out once a month to connect with people over some good eats!

Prashant.w

I am ready to join.. :)

hi, well actually we are still on the planning stage, as this good friend of mine is only available for two days. So we still checking out what the recommendations are. so far no interesting information popping up yet. Visiting a resto once a month is a quite a great idea.

To wrap things up:
Itinerary below: 9 August 2014
Meeting place Khalidiya Mall, 3pm
(1) Lulu Market
(2) Zawak Al Sham, unfortunately Shawarma is not available
(3) Saraya Palace, Shawarma still not available!
I didn't bother to ask why.
(4) Baqala, just to chill out
(5) Al Khayyam Bakery for a tasty Chicken Pizza for 2 dhs
From Khalidiya we went to Al Markaziyah, Bus #5
(6) World Trade Center Mall to chill out!
From WTC all is walking distance going to:
(7) Giftland along Hamdan - we are hunting for a polo shirt!
(8) Dirhams Plaza
(9) Wearmart  we found what we are looking for!
So we skipped Greenhouse.
(10) Coop  to chill out coz it's too hot!
(11) City Burger (backside of Al Mariah Mall) At last!!! SHAWARMA served with pickled carrot, chili etc. for 2dhs. So yummy we ordered twice!
We also tried fruit shakes: lemon mint 12dhs/medium size; watermelon 6dhs, small size; guava 6dhs, small size (5:30pm)
Back to walking after filling up our stomach!
(12) Corniche St. / Corniche Beach just in time for the Sunset (6:00-6:45pm)
(13) Arab Udupi for schezwan fried rice (chicken) for 17dhs amazingly delicious
Depends to your taste buds!
*** Arab Udupi is located near City Burger but the rice is served only by 7pm.
That was it pansit! It was fun even we're both toasted under the Arabian sun!
