i am also not too far from Sankt Gallen. my cousins and friends live in St Gallen. And I'm from canton glarus which is about 1 hrs of drive.

Check out the local bike markets (Velob枚rsen)

you can probably find a good cheap bike in one of those!

Or you can go to WinMarkt in Herisau where you can buy good use bike. They cost Chf 30.00 to Chf 300.00.
