Permanent Resident, but no ID, yet..

Hello fellow expats!

I am a Filipina and just granted a PRP. I intend to travel (cross the border) soon and wondering if I "still" have to secure a Visa (as Filipino needs visa in most countries) or PRP certificate would be fine.

Thank you.

Cross the border...   ...but from which country to which other country?

You cannot travel on a South African ID. Coming into South Africa is fine and you no longer need to apply for a visa.

I am in South Africa and planning to cross the border to Swaziland and Mozambique. I've been to these countries before and had to secure visa. Just wondering, now that I am a Permanent Resident of South Africa, will I be exempted then?

Senith

Thank you!

Hi Senith,

You are perfectly fine to travel out and in for as long as you bring along your PRP certificate at all times.
You do not need a visa since you have now been granted permanent residence.

Hope this helps.

To add to my previous message, you bring your Filipino passport together with your PRP certificate when you travel in and out.

Thanks for the info! I am now in Ballito and decided to skip Swaziland. And with what's happening in Mozambique (floods), doubt it very much if I want to visit them.
