peachsorbet

Hi there...

I'll be moving to HCM City in October for work. I don't know many people there and certainly will have alot to learn abt the culture and living in the city itself. I hope to meet new people through this website to socialise and network... See y'all soon!

Cheers!

Christine

Hi Peach,

Welcome to vietnam. Like you i was also afraid before coming , but now its easy peasy....you will feel great by coming here.

Welcome to VN soon. I am fairly new here and love it so far. Many interesting things and much to learn.

If you need a welcoming party this is the place indeed. I had a lot of friends from Singapore when I was in the states and they were one of the best bunch of friends I ever had.

Can't find any here, and hopefully you will be my first.  hihihi  That didn't sound too right did it?  :)

Hi Johnny,

Thank you for the reply! How long have u been in HCM? Glad to know that you are enjoying urself there... Hopefully I'll like it as much too... I spose keeping busy with discovering the City n its people will help alleviate 'home-sickness' somewhat... I was told that networking is important as it serves somewht as much needed support system...

Ive only been to Hanoi n not HCM.. So the first week will b interesting though im sure tht the ladies at wrk will help me with settling in...

A welcome party sounds like lotsa fun though i doubt that im deserving of all the attention!

Im sure there are lotsa singaporeans living there in HCM...? But sure.. Hope to ctch up whn im there in Oct..

Keep in touch- drop me a line or something....

Have a lovely wk ahead!

Brgrds,
Mira

Hi Helen!

Thank you for the reply... :) Its good to know you too... Thank you for the very kind gracious offer. I will definitely take you up on that. I have absolutely zero knowledge on the Vietnamese language- so its good to get to know a Vietnamese who can also converse comfortably in English! Maybe you can teach me some simple Vietnamese?

I bet it'll be alot of fun to visit some places of interest in the City.

Do keep in touch and I hope to meet up when i get there in Oct...

Thanx Helen! Drop me a line via email to keep in touch yea...?

Have a fab week ahead!

Cheers,

My pleasure , friend. My email is : Ms.HuongRMIT@gmail.com. Send me a message if you want to know more about VN. So when will you plan to move here? in the beginning of Oct? It is raining season now, so remember to bring raincoat and umbrela. Be careful with taxi also, you may use Mai Linh or Vinasun, they are quite popular in VN. Anyway, just be prepared and ask for help. I will assist you as best as I can. You use Facebook? Add me s3146164@rmit.edu.vn. My nickname is Huong Huong Nguyen.

Hi Leaper,

Its good to hear from you. How are you?

I'll be arriving in HCM on the 13th (yay!)- thats just a week away! So this week Im just busy catching up with friends- most of whom have 'promised' to visit me when im there.. I doubt i can be 'the hostess with the mostess' like Bree Van De Kamp, given the circumstances, but im sure it'll be loads of fun... I enjoy travelling and i heard that Vietnam is a lovely place to explore...

Good news- Im pretty sure that i'll be staying in District 1 too.. (my workplc is close by). I have been to Hanoi but never before to HCM... so id be completely lost! I appreciate the offer to meet up n will definitely take you up on that!!

Shall we keep in touch via email? Facebook? I have to sort out internet and cell phone connection when im there. Will probably use my SG line for the first week or so..

Well, i hope to hear from you soon...

Have a lovely mid-week...

Cheers,

I'm doing alright. doing some last minute packing. haha. I'm going to HCM tomorrow morning. Luckily, I'm leaving some of the stuff at my friends' place so I don't have to pack everything just yet.

My training course will start on Monday, so mornings till afternoons will be spent in "school" but if you're just around the area, I'm pretty sure I can make time to meet you.

I'll send you my chat id and other contact info as private message, ok? Hmmm. not sure how much the rates would be if you use your SG line, I think it'll be easier for you (and cheaper) to get a prepaid sim ASAP. It would cost you $3-5 for a sim card and $5 prepaid credits can go a long way especially for local calls and SMS. Mobifone or Viettel seems to be the popular choice.

See you soon,
Angela

Hey!

How are you enjoying HCM?

I moved here a month ago and am still adjusting.

It sure is different from my hometown back in the states  but, I am getting used to it (the food is SO good- I think I could eat Mi Xao Bo everyday - yum).

I don't know many people in this city either and am new to this Expat forum so, I thought I would say Hi!

Have a great day!
