US Employer Issues

Post new topic

Hi All, I'm hoping very soon to become an expat.

My US employer has no issue with me working remotely however they are concerned about tax implications for the company.  Something about the 183 day rule?

I recently became a permanent resident in Mexico, my husband is a Mexican citizen and I met the income requirements.

Does anyone know if my working full time in Mexico for a US employer has negative implications for the employer?

Would it be easier to just become an independent contractor and pay my own self employment tax?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
