filipina applying for visa

Im applying for long stay visa in French embassy in Philippines but they told me they will only provide the short stay visa and if I want to extend my stay in France it will be process there...any Filipino have same situation here? I askeed why I can't apply the long stay visa here but they just respond that read the documents they gave to me.

I'm Gabrielle. First of all i would like to ask you ladies about something, what is the purpose of the long-stay visa that you are about to apply? Are you a French citizen spouse or have you any family relationship with a French citizen?

The purpose of long stay visa that I would like to apply is to study.
I don't have relatives in France.But I have my boyfriend who is French citizen.
I really appreciate thank you .
