Original Degree for Job Visa Processing

Hello,

Currently I got an offer from Oman and they have requested my original attested degree to be send to them for processing of my job visa, which i have already sent to them....Is it a common norm to provide original degree to companies in Oman and normally how much time it will take to process a job visa....in my case they told me 3-4 weeks??
