I have seen that some members are interested in Waha Oil Company. So I did a little search on our famous 'Google friend' while hoping that it may be useful for members who want some information about this company.

Company Profile
Waha Oil Company is considered to be the second biggest oil producer in Libya. Waha Oil Company operates four oil fields; the biggest of which isÌý Waha Oil Field. The Es-Sider Oil Terminal is situated on the Libyan coast, about 180 km from the city of Sirte and from here oil is shipped to other countries. The terminal is equipped with four shipping berths for the reception of cargo ships and has nineteen crude oil tanks.Ìý

In addition to operating the oil fields under its control, Waha Oil Company also handles large quantities of oil for a number of companies, including Wintershall, Total and Zuietina, through its production lines running from the Sirte Basin to Es-Sider terminal.

Waha Oil Company (WOC) is owned by National Oil Corporation (NOC) in a joint venture with three American companies namely ConocoPhillips, Marathon and Amerada Hess. These companies are now back working as partners since Jan 2006 after having left in 1986 when it was known as Oasis Oil Company.

Recent Achievement
Faregh oil and gas field has recently become operational. This newest oil field is situated about 60 km to the south west of Gialo oil field. The Faregh field was first discovered in 1962 but because of the complex geological nature of the field and due to economic reasons, the field was left undeveloped by the company at that time.
On the First of September 2003, completion of the first phase was celebrated Faregh field development of phase II has already started. Basic and detailed engineering are in progress.

I can't comment on Al Waha, but I have worked for another oil company.

The usual shift rotation is 6 and 3, but for safety it was 4 and 4. The first and last days of the shift are travel days.

By and large the Libyan people working for the oil companies are well educated and motivated. They have Mediterranean work habits, but they do get the job done ... but maybe not quite up to the standards expected in the West.

Many of the functions, especially safety and mission-critical maintenance and a few specialist management functions are done by ex pats.

You will be well paid and the accommodation and catering will be basic but quite adequate. Most of the houseboys and other support staff are Egyptian. You will be very pleasantly surprised by the skill and efficacy of the top management. And you'll be frustrated at the over-close attention to pointless detail.

(I was forbidden from disposing of a class set of books from the 1980s for which the accompanying tapes were unavailable and had been out of print for almost 20 years. I also had to keep a large box of specialist headsets for a language lab which had been taken out 2 years earlier.)

Whether you enjoy it or not deepens overwhelmingly on (i) your own tolerance of uncertainty, (ii) your ability to laugh in the face of adversity and (iii) your good nature and acceptance of other people's cultures.

Of course, Al Waha may be completely different, but probably won't be.

I am working for Waha company.The moneys all ways in tne bank but
it is a little hectic an there is a lot of work to do to improve this.The hole place as in libya is in freezze at the moment it seems like noboys knows were they stand there is a lot of politics in an out companys.over all though you will learn patience an have some good an bad experiances over all same old same old
