I was just wondering if anyone knows what happens with medical aid if you arrive in Mauritius pregnant ?
Are you covered ?
If not what is the cost of a c section ?

Hi Cara,

Public Health care:
If you are not a resident, you will be billed. I would not advise.

Private Health care:
giving birth c-section will cost you about Rs 100,000 plus.

Private clinics in Mauritius i.e. one the oldest the might be of help to you. Otherwise, government hospitals are FREE of charge for all those that find themselves on the territory of Mauritius [I wonder if that is still the case? And if so, should it be?] :/
