cost of living and expected salary (incredible job offer)

Hi All,

I've never truly thought about how would be moving to Dubai but i've received an interesting job proposal.

I'm a 26yo, male from Milan (italy) with a MoS in Management Engineering and i work for a management consulting firm with a 24k/year salary.

The company for which my girlfriend works has asked me if i would like to move to work for them in Dubai for the next 3-5 years. The role would be very different from my actual one, something like a sales representative.

The full package would be:
- Home, assurance and mobile would be fully covered by the company
- lf i need a car, they will pay it for me
- 14000 aed monthly salary

To be defined: round trip flights from Dubai to Milan (company HQ) every 2 months ca.

What do you think about it?

is it a good offer?
what kind of quality life should i expect?
would i be able to save something?

thanks all for your support,

Bonny91

the overall salary would be 26000 aed monthly, would i be able to save anything? is it enough to conduct a good quality expat life?

thanks

mgluby

Hi Bonny91,

Having spent several months in the UAE over the last few years I would say that with the home, car and phone expenses covered, 14,000 AED would be good enough to live a comfortable life.

The biggest cost in the UAE is rental and bills. With a car and flights covered, that is enough to live a comfortable life out there depending on your lifestyle of course.

Hi mgluby,

thank for your prompt response.

Do you think i would be able to save approximately 7/8000 aed a month?

I'd suggest looking at the cost of living breakdown which is in this forum. It's all down to lifestyle. If you go out eating most nights / big drinking weekends / fun stuff in Dubai etc it quickly eats into your 14K AED.

That being said, I know some people who live on salaries of 19K AED that they have to pay all rent / bills out of so its not unmanageable.

regards, Mat
