Is there any volunteer work teaching English?

Hi there

Are there any opportunities for someone offering English language assistance on a voluntary basis in your part of Portugal? I'm planning to live in Portugal, probably in the Porto region, from early 2018, but am also interested in the general volunteering situation for expats in Portugal.

Ideally, I would like to tutor individuals or help out in a class for speakers of other languages, especially migrants, refugees or others unable to access English skills through normal education avenues.聽 I have a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and several years experience in Australia doing voluntary tutoring.

There is a non-profit organization called SPEAK that uses volunteer instructors for several different languages.聽 Not sure if the link is allowed here, so google the name, plus intercambio de lingua e da cultura.聽

But it is not English that migrants and refugees need in order to live, work and thrive in Portugal, it is Portuguese.
