Hi Aphol!

I'm also a Filipino currently living in Sweden. I want to know, how many months do you have left before you have to go back to the Philippines?

You can apply for residence permit online while you are still in Sweden but you also have to consider going back before your tourist visa expires. Once it expires and you are still in Sweden, you will be considered "overstaying". That's illegal to do. There is a possibility that you will be given a fine to pay when a passport control personnel in the airport checks your passport for stamping but discovered you overstayed. The fine will depend on how long you have overstayed. The longer you overstayed, the bigger fine you will be asked to pay. If you are unfortunate, you will also get a record in your passport and to their system that might affect your application for getting a residence permit or future travel back in Sweden. If you want to risk doing that, you should pray and hope you'll encounter a not strict passport control personnel and just let you pass on your passport checking.

There's another option though. Since you are still in Sweden, you can apply for extension of visa in Migrationsverket. Once you pass and got the extension, now you can apply for residence permit online while staying legally for few more months in Sweden.

Just so you know, when applying for residence permit, you will need to go back to the Philippines for your interview because that's required for those who applied living outside EU.

I hope I help you out even for just a little bit. :) Lycka till!

Regards,
Lilo

Hi Lilo 😊. Thanks for replying to my post. I still have 2 month here. Can i ask how long is the process for requesting extension visa? And how long can i extend my visa? Thank you so much.
