my current visa will be expired next month, can I apply for my next VOA in advance say now? or I will have to go out first before I can apply? anyone got experience? Thank you. any input will be appreciated.

You can submit now. You can fly out of Vietnam and return by plane. It is also possible that you go out through the nearest land border, depending on your choice
