Keeping in touch while living in Oman

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

What are the best ways you've found for keeping in touch with friends and family back home while living in Oman? How frequently do you stay in touch with loved ones?

Are there local equivalents to common instant messaging and online video calling services that you prefer or are more widely used?

If there is a sizeable time difference, how do you manage this?

Do you make international phone calls from a landline or mobile phone from Oman? What do you think of the cost?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Dear Priscilla,

Its very easy and affordable sometimes to keep in touch with your loved ones while living in Oman via different methods like what's app, IMO, Facebook messenger, iChat, yeecall and many others for free of cost. Please note one thing that free calling on these messengers are blocked or not allowed in GCC including Oman but free VPN service available on play store is a good option to unblocked the government system and enjoy free unlimited calls worldwide. The expats living in Oman are doing like this.

Another cheap calling system is the government planned calling cards like Marhaba calling card, Aalo calling card, etc. You can get 50 international minutes to selected countries by the telecommunication companies. So don't you worry about keeping in touch with your family while living in Oman.

Oman is very friendly and safest country for locals and foreigners also from all aspects. I'm living in Oman since 2006 as expatriate. For more help you can ask me more questions or queries.
