The best apps for expats in Taiwan

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello,

We invite you to share information regarding some of the apps that have helped to facilitate your move abroad in Taiwan. This will help expats-to-be who are making the move as well.

Which apps did you use while preparing your move to Taiwan?

What apps do you use the most for your everyday life in Taiwan: whether it's for transport, managing finances, general information, learning the language of your host country, leisure activities, etc.?

How does this technology help you in your everyday life as an expat?

Which apps would you recommend to expatriates in Taiwan and why?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Mainly for Taipei, but Bus Tracker App is the best for public transportation--it gives directions via bus and MRT. It also has a map with all the YouBike stations.

Pleco is another good one for helping with Chinese characters.

Yes, Bus tracker app is very useful if you are frequently using public transportation. Other useful apps are - Line (local whatsapp), PCHome if you want to to do online shopping, interface is not english :( ;  Costco app is good to check out online items; Eat Drink Taipei is a good one for local food guidance; google translate is a lot more powerful with many cool features to translate SMS/webpage content from chinese to english; Taiwan Weather app gives very close prediction;
