Spouse Visa

Hi all.  My girlfriend has been offered a job in Malaysia in August at a school in KL.  I will be going with her.  I may look to get some work in Malaysia but I dont need to and could live without the work.  I could also work remotely for UK clients of mine so I dont really need to "Work" in KL.   I've tried to work out what visa I need but its a bit confusing.  Can I apply for a temporary residence permit as my girlfriend will have a work permit.  Or will I just need to keep extending tourist visas?  Does it matter that we are not married?

Any help would be amazing thanks.

Rich

One option is to apply for a social visit pass (long term) as the common-law spouse of an employment holder (page 25 )

Visa runs are problematic these days and after two or so, entry can be denied for 30 days. Vietnam and Thailand also have restrictions.
