non lucrative renewal denied

Post new topic

baldchick

I have a non-lucrative visa and live in Madrid.  My Visa expires 25 April.  Because of a family emergency ( and work) I was out of Spain more than 6 months in 2017-18. I currently have 132 days in Spain.   From all that I have read, my Visa will most likely  not be renewed.
I am debating whether or not to spend the money  for paperwork and translating documents (bank statements/rental leases etc) when I know I have little chance of getting a renewal.
BUT....
I have a lease until end of July, on my Madrid apartment.
SO....
If I do not file for renewal, can I come and go ( I will need a few trips to move things back to the States) on a regular tourist Visa once my NonLucrative expires.?  OR  Will I have to leave immediately and wait 90 days to return??

I do not want to risk going illegal because I would like to reapply (from square one) for a nonluc or retirement visa (when I retire).  I am currently 61 and feeling a bit deflated. :(

Appreciate any advice///comments

Thanks

You keep posting and asking about this. It would seem that no one here has been in the same situation.
The choice is yours in the end.
Personally I would just get on with it and see what happens. Time is running out to be able to live your dream!
