Moving to Malaysia from US - Indian couple

Post new topic

ssid19

Hi,

I have been following this forum on-and-off for a while now and thanks to all those who reply.

I work with a US O&G company and am moving to KL, with wife, for an 1-2 years assignment in the next 2-3 weeks. We have been living in US for more than 8 years.

Could you give us some pointers on:
1) Which part of the town will be best to stay?
2) Mobile / Cell phone company recommendations?
3) How should wife start her job hunt? She is an MBA from US.
4) Looking to meet new friends! Are there any social gatherings?
5) Any do's / dont's?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Cheers,

Sid

KL is a lovely city. We moved from UK since last 2 years. We have 17 yr and 11 yr old girl going to very good international school here (ISKL). My wife works as cosultant for interantional NGO's. But she works outside of Malaysia and she travels in and out of Malaysia. Telephone you can try Maxis for cell phone, they are the largest operator in the country. as for living KL has different pockets and nice depends where is your work place. Ampang area is very mature residential and also Damansara, Bangsar are equally has got all the positive side. Your wife needs to have working visa, govt. is quite particular about it. Overall, KL is safe city and very foody place with hardly any price you pay for it.

Let me know if you want anything else we can help you to settle well.

Good luck!

Raz:)
