I am considering a job offer in Sohar. There is some information out there, but I want to know what it's really like to live there. What activities are there outside of work, and apart from driving somewhere for the weekend? Is it easy to get around town? Is it easy to have things shipped from Amazon, etc? What's the expat scene like? I don't have children and am not interested in "family" activities. But, I need to find a good gym, nice spa, access to good healthy food, theatre, concerts, festivals, what's really going on there?

Hey there @lindyabroad, for me Sohar is quaint. Nothing truly lively happens here, but it is a nice place to be - friendly people, clean and developing.

For theatre, concert and festival, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are quite near. Expat scene, from what I gather so far is also quite quiet as many folks travel to Dubai or Muscat or elsewhere during the weekends. But I'm still new here as well so maybe I need a little bit more time to check out the scene.
