Thinking about moving to Malta, 24yo female

Post new topic

Hi everyone,
I am thinking of moving to Malta in the next month or two from the UK.
My current job finishes on 20th July and I am looking to move to Malta as its a country I love and have been to several times.
I am a 24 year old single female and it would be great to meet other people in my situation.
I was also wondering how easy it would be to live and work in Malta when I don't speak Maltese just English. I don't mind doing any jobs; bar work, restaurant or tourism.
Also is it easy to find somewhere to live in Sliema, San Juilian, Sweqi areas?

Thanks :)

With regards to not speaking Maltese you should be ok but you may find there are not so many vacancies available as we are well into the holiday season but you should be able to find something.
With regards to where to live it depends on your budget as rental prices have risen quite a lot over the last couple of years and the areas you mention may well be expensive.

I think you could find a job easily as a native english speaker. There are tons of possibilites, mostly during the summer. I've seen tons of "help wanted" papers everywhere, plus its a good idea to register in multiple agencies before your arrival. I'm working as a copywriter and got job offers even without sending my CV around, plus as you could realise, English isnt my native language.

About the areas, I had my first place in Bugibba, that could be a good start because of lower prices (accomodation will be way cheaper after october) or to find some catering jobs. Sliema area also a good option but I dont have personal experiences yet, will move to Pembroke is some days, so first hand infos incoming. :D

Wish you all the best about your plans, also feel free to hook me up if I can help you somehow.

Take care and have a beautiful day.

There are plenty of job in the tourism and restaurant sector butt hey are usually low paid. Living in Sliema/St. Julians area usually is much more expensive than a bit outside.

Check out this site as it has a lot of useful information before your move: :)

Hi,

I would really recommend trying this country. I am in your shoes now and I lived in 7 different countries. Malta is still developing but there are many opportunities to grow as a personality and a professional.
